Thursday 23 October
Well, made some updates to the site.
I hope to see Kill Bill Saturday, which should be sweet. Not much else going on really.
Wednesday 15 October
Updated the games page. Added some more Halflife links.
I had the joy of playing the Natural Selection mod for Halflife (after downloading 114 Mb on a modem - yikes) and its great. I spent the first game walking round like a noob but after that it kinda makes sense. It's also a good idea to hotkey EVERY action and to play a few levels by yourself to get the map layouts.
Sunday 12 October
Been a while between updates. I have just spent a week in France in Brest (hmmm, Brest) and loved it. My family and I hope to be moving there soon (which will make a change from not so Great Britan). Brest itself is huge and has lots of great shops but there is zero night life there or in the villages around it.
I flew with RyainAir and they charged me £40 for excess luggage on the way back. My flight only cost £60 so I was very pissed off about that. So nobody use RyainAir 'cos they suck.
Sunday 27 September
Well, strange week. Idries got married and much fun was had. Met some people that I had not seen for a long time which was nice.
Tried using Valve's Steam software for the past week. Basically the software will allow access to the latest updates/mods/new games for Valve's software. It's a great concept but it needs a broadband connection. As I have a 5k dial-up connection it really stinks. The software does work but it can take up to 30 minutes to launch a game as you HAVE to be connected to the internet. The Steam Forums have a lot a people posting about just how lame the software is. I've added a Steam/CounterStrike/Valve page in the games area.
I grabbed the latest Matrix trailor from WhatIsTheMatrix.WarnerBros.Com and its f@$~#+g great.
Saturday 20 September
Added some more web comic links. I am still amazed at the quality of free art/comic available online. It sucks that these guys have to pay (in most cases) for their own hosting. I am trying to get an idea for a peer to peer web hosting service down on paper with the view to reducing hosting costs by pulling the files from a peer source in a fairly fast time with file varification. It may/may not be workable, but it's worth looking at I think.
I had the chance to play the Tron 2.0 single player demo (free cd from Game). It is very faithful to the oringinal Tron (which is cool) but it's not really anything new. The player config screen is very cool though. You can upgrade your player by "porting" code that has new/enhanced abilities. This seems to be very slick and offers a very customisable player config. The rest of the single player demo is playable but it's not Quake or Halflife so it does seem to be a bit lacking. The Vs. CPU Bike match is fun, but the CPU is VERY good so it's a bit frustrating. I would imagen LAN bike matches will be very fast paced and much fun.

Made some changes to the front page and I am a lot happier with the site layout. It's clearer to navigate now and this should be the template for the rest of the site. I have done every box of text as a table (frames always look bad with these free sites as each frame gets it's own ad at the top). Now if I could just get some more content worth looking at...
Wednesday 17 September
Well, made a few updates to the games, news and hardware pages and added some colur to the pages. Site is starting to look a bit more appealing.
I had the chanve to play the Homeworld 2 Demo from File Planet. To be honest it's not that great. The mother ship is exactly the same and the units are squads rather than individual ships. There is also a new damage system for capital ships (you can target parts to destroy specific parts of the ships) but the demo is nothing special at all. Shame really, Homeworld and Homeworld Cataclysm were such great games!!
Also, a mate of mine Jo Marks should be organising a weekend of beer and BBQ's as a semi-house warming party. With such nice weather here in England it should be great!
Monday 15 September
The Stag Weekend (tm) was a great successs. Pantballing at OwlActivities was great, 4 games of paintball and a BBQ lunch can't be bad. I have a HUGE paint ball scar on my head and about another 8 in various places. Spent Sunday at Warwick Castle and that was great too. Again pics soon...

STAG WEEKEND - Organised by Dave Green for Idries Hamadi
13/14 September
Cool - right. Everything is booked. Price was a bit more than I
anticipated - but then staying overnight hasn't helped that. Gonna be
£100 each. Minibus, paintball, hotel all included.
Just a reminder - Idries still doesn't know anything about this, and I
think we'd rather keep it that way.
We're gonna have to make an early start though - the plan is to meet
at
Canada Water tube station by 9am. Take the "shopping
centre" exit andgive me a call. Then ideally pick Idries up shortly
after and get to the hotel for around 12 to check-in.
Paintballing starts at 12.45ish - with a brief BBQ lunch, apparently.
Any vegetarians so I can let them know in advance? All equipment is
provided - including overalls, so no need to worry about getting
covered
in mud/paint etc ;)
We've got 200 paint pellets - more can be bought on the day, if
required
between games.
Paintballing will finish around 4.
The hotel is in a little market town near the activities centre - so
drinks and food afterwards shouldn't be a problem.
We have three twin rooms booked at the hotel. Breakfast isn't
included -
and costs £4-£7 extra.
I was tempted to try and book additional activities for the Sunday
morning - however, things would seem to have got expensive enough. The
place has all sorts of crap to do - karting, quad biking etc. If
people
are interested, we can probably book stuff for the Sunday, too; praps
even when we get there - who knows. I did enquire about clay pigeon
shooting - which sounded fun. However, they would have to charge us
for
8 people, even if there are only 6. Which would be £320 between us
all!!! I felt that was best left!
Any questions gimme a call. I've paid a £60 deposit on the paintball,
the rest will be due on the day. The hotel we can pay for as we leave.
And the £175 for the van I've paid. This means you each owe me £47 on
the day - and another £60 to pay for the hotel / paintballing.
Hope thats ok with everyone.
Cheers,
Dave
